Wind Symphony Announcements

Announcements updated March 7, 2026


GREAT work last week! We had SOOO much improvement over those rehearsals and I hope you have opened the recordings in the drive to listen and make notes. Please do that before Tuesday so we can have many focused rehearsals leading into Spring Break!


Here's the Weekly update!


Schedule for this week:

Monday, March 9 A:

  • No Sectionals

  • No Jazz Band

  • RISD Winterguard Showcase 7-8 pm @ Lake Highlands High School Large Gym

Tuesday, March 10 B:

  • 7:00-8:30 AM - Brass Sectional

  • Class - Sightread, Repassoffs, and hit ALL Pieces

  • 4:30-6:00 PM Philharmonic Rehearsal in Band Hall

Wednesday, March 11 A:

  • 7:00-8:30 AM - Woodwind Sectional

  • 7th Period: Philharmonic out of class for Orchestra UIL @ Irving HS

Thursday, March 12 B:

  • 7:00- 8:30 AM - FULL BAND REHEARSAL (with piano)

  • Class: Repassoffs and Full Run Thursday (Last rehearsal before Spring Break)

Friday, March 13 A:

  • 7:45 AM - Makeup Passoffs

  • TAKE YOUR INSTRUMENTS HOME!!


Mandatory Corpus Trip meeting is Monday April 6th at 6:00 PM in PHS Commons.

  • One parent/guardian from each family attends alongside their student... bring a pen... families will be co-signing the Student Code of Conduct.


2026 Show Reveal is Monday, April 6th at 7:15 PM in the PHS Commons

  • Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream will be on site at 7:30 PM for our ice cream social immediately following the Show Reveal.


UIL Contest for Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras is March 11th & 12. 

  • Philharmonic: Wednesday, Mar.11 A: 

    • 2:45 PM Phil to band hall to change into concert attire

      4:00 PM Phil depart on bus for UIL; 5:30 PM Phil warm-up;

      6:05 PM UIL concert at Irving HS; 6:35 PM Phil SR; 

      8:15 PM dismissal/parent pickup at Pearce HS

  • Symphony: Thursday, Mar.12 B:  

    • 1:10 PM Symphony Orch head to band hall to change into concert attire

    • 2:45 PM Symphony departs on bus for UIL; 4:15 PM warm-up;

      4:50 PM concert; 5:20 PM SR on stage;

      6:00 PM depart; 7:00 PM dismissal/parent pickup at Pearce HS

  • UIL Contest itineraries for JJ Pearce Bands ARE HERE!


RISD Winterguard showcase: Monday March 9 7:00 PM is an expected attendance for all Pearce Band students. This short event features all four RISD HS colorguards performing their indoor winterguard shows for each other. Arrive at LHHS by 7:00 PM and sit together as a band to support our JJP Winterguard. It is a FREE event, and will last under an hour. 


Concerto Competition Prelims is Thursday May 7 here at PHS after school.

  • HERE is the entry form for Concerto Competition. All Wind Ensemble percussion, woodwinds and brass participate in Concerto. Woodwinds and Brass will perform with an accompanist at Prelims, and the $60 accompanist fee will be added in Presto once you submit your entry form linked above. Deadline to submit the form is Monday, March 30.

    • We will have three divisions this year certifying students to FINALS:

      • JH division:  WW, Brass & Percussion

      • HS Non-Varsity division:  WW, Brass & Percussion in Symphonic or Wind Symphony (or freshmen in the Wind Ensemble)

      • HS Varsity division:  WW, Brass & Percussion in Wind Ensemble

    • Finals competition is scheduled for Sunday, May 17th from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

    • All students should be working with their lesson teacher to add a new movement to their solo, or select a new flashy solo for the May competition.


  • Meyerson Concert Save the Date! Wed Apr.29 7:30 PM

  • Disney / Universal Florida January 2027 trip dates announced for MMB!

  • Student Leadership Team 2026-2027 Audition & Training Information CLICK HERE

  • 2026-2027 Save-the-Date for summer band & marching season CLICK HERE

  • All band students signing up for band or colorguard at Pearce 2026-2027 will be eligible to travel with the MMB to Disney World & Universal Studios, Florida in 2027! Our trip is scheduled for Sat Jan.16 through Wed Jan.20, 2027. We will begin taking payments for the trip during the MMB May Marching Camp... more information coming soon regarding this exciting adventure that is only available once every FOUR years! This is the year to be in the MMB!

  • Orchestra UIL for Philharmonic is Wednesday, March 11. It'll be late that evening so please plan accordingly for jobs.
