Symphonic Band Announcements

Hello Symphonic Band! Sectionals continue this week in the choir room. As a reminder, please be seated 5 minutes before your start time, warming up in your seat. Attendance at sectionals is a major part of your grade this semester. Your first UIL pass-off will also take place this week. Check out the link below to know what you will be performing! I am so excited to continue working on our program this week!

Highlights:

  • Mustang Academy Jan 20th- There will be a guest speaker during MA to talk about Music Therapy. I encourage you to come learn about a field of music you may not have heard of before. The presenter is a PHS alumnus!

  • All students need to continue to get their CMF info into Mrs. Harrison and piano parts to Mr. Boatman.

  • All-Band Parent Meeting Tonight 6 pm to 6:40 pm

  • Drumline: save the date for Jan.22 at 6 pm at BHS MAC - RISD HBCU Fair 2026 - wear jerseys

  • Lonestar Wind Orchestra Concert Sunday, Jan 25th

  • Musical Band Night!! Let's go celebrate the musical together! January 29th

  • Jazz Band starts back up for Spring semester on Monday, Jan.26th: 4:35 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Corpus Day: Tuesday, Feb.17: 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM - have your entire trip account paid up!

  • Chamber Music Festival: Saturday, Feb.21: All students play a solo and an ensemble

CMF Solo Selection

Each student in the J.J. Pearce Band will perform a solo AND an ensemble at Chamber Music Festival on Saturday February 21 in the PHS Fine Arts wing. This Thursday and Friday Jan.15-16 during classes, all band students will show the band staff the solo that their lesson teacher has selected for them for CMF. If your student is not yet enrolled in private lessons, you can email Mr. Day at brandon.day@risd.org to get signed up for weekly lessons during their band class or outside of the schoolday. A class solo can also be provided by the band staff to students who are not currently enrolled in lessons.

Lone Star Wind Orchestra Concert:

Free tickets for Pearce Band students

LSWO 20th anniversary concert at the Meyerson

  • Sunday, January 25, 2026 - 3:00 PM

  • Our flute teacher and tuba/euphonium teacher play in this amazing band!

  • We have reserved a block of seats just for the Pearce Band to sit together at this Sunday's LSWO concert!

  • Some of the band staff are attending, and we encourage you to join us at the Meyerson at 3pm!

  • Parents would need to purchase their own tickets, but Pearce Band students are free!

Jazz Band

Monday January 26, 2026

  • Jazz Band weekly Monday rehearsals start back up for Spring semester on Monday Jan.26th: 4:35 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Students who did not perform with the jazz band at the Winter Concert are welcome to attend, we are happy to grow the jazz band!  Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Drums, Piano, Guitar & Bass

  • Let’s make it an ALL BAND NIGHT on Thursday for opening night!

Corpus Day

Tuesday February 17, 2026

PHS Band Hall - 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM

  • All students who intend to participate in our 2026 JJP MMB Spring Trip to Corpus must attend this short event.

  • We will be paying any outstanding band fees and trip balances in-person at Corpus Day. Statements will be sent out this week, and you can start paying online. The finalized trip amount will be communicated soon, once the student attendee trip list is finalized later this week.

  • Corpus Day is when all students sign up for their condos (6 to a room) and for their charter bus seatmate. All students must attend this short event in order to attend the trip.

Chamber Music Festival

Saturday, February 21, 2026

Pearce HS Fine Arts Wing

  • All students in the Pearce Band will perform a solo AND an ensemble.

  • Parents are encouraged to go into the room with their student to support their solo performance, and take video / pictures as they wish.

  • All ensemble performances will occur in the Pearce Auditorium, and are open to the public. Parents are encouraged to also attend their student’s ensemble performance. Students may support their friends’ ensemble performances in the auditorium, as long as they are attentive and supportive.

  • All performances will be scheduled at Pearce between 8:30am and 4:55pm. Students can request either early or late performance times based around other school-sponsored events. Email Mrs. Harrison ASAP to request a specific morning or afternoon time. kaitlin.harrison@risd.org

  • Student attire will be “job interview attire”

  • Ratings and “Honor Awards” will be given out to all divisions and grade levels of students.
