Meyerson Fund Scholarship
The Meyerson Fund was established in 1989, for use of the PABC to fund
annual performances in the Meyerson Symphony Center and to be used for
scholarship(s) for graduating senior student(s) at Pearce High School.

You may be eligible to apply for the
Meyerson Fund Scholarship!
What are the qualifications?
You must be a graduating senior in good standing in the J.J. Pearce High School Band.
You must have demonstrated high levels of musicianship, leadership and character while in the band.
You must be planning to major in music.
You must have shown a desire to advance and progress as a musician through things like: private study, enrollment in the Honors program, performance at Chamber Music Festivals, Region Band Auditions and auditions for solos in the Marching and Concert Bands.
How do I apply?
Submit proof that you have the qualifications listed above (you can do this with your own statement or other proof of these achievements).
Write a paper (no more than two pages long) discussing your musical and scholarly goals, your reasons for wanting a career in music and the main influences on your education.
Submit references from at least three adults (not your parents) recommending you for the award. At least one must come from your private teacher and the others can come from any adult with knowledge of your musical qualifications or character.
Submit a statement from your parent(s) stating your need for financial assistance.
The application materials should be compiled and given to Patti Whitehurst, Scholarship Committee Chair no later than Friday, May 4, 2007.
What will happen next?
A selection committee will interview the candidates after all the materials have been submitted. The committee will include (at least) a Band Director, a school or district administrator and a member of the PABC Scholarship Committee.
All information presented to the committee will be treated as confidential. The winner of the Meyerson Fund Scholarship will be announced at the Band Banquet on May 12, 2007.
