Why are the Fine Arts critically important to Education?

Parents and students alike work for many hours each year to ensure that the
Pearce Band continues to be recognized as the outstanding band it is. Extra
effort and volunteer labor go a long way but it also takes money. It would
be nice if a school could provide all the funds needed to run all the
programs it supports, but this is not possible. However, it does provide
money for many of the expenses incurred by our bands. For instance, the
school purchases music, most uniforms, some instruments, and also pays for
buses to the football games and local competitions. There are some school
funds for other expenses incurred by marching and concert bands, but not
enough to cover all of the costs. Fund-raising activities and direct
payments by parents/students must cover the additional expenses.
Many students and parents raise funds to help cover trip expenses by participating in band
fundraisers. In the past this has included selling magazines, soliciting items for the annual auction, and
purchasing a band yard sign. Annual fundraisers have included the MMB March-a-Thon, PABC auction,
Fall Football Programs, and Magazine Sales. For 2008-2009 the Mightly Mustang Band major fundraisers will be Spirit Wear/Yard Signs
sales, the March-a-Thon, the Media Guide/Football ads, the Annual Silent Auction, and (new for this year) a Pearce Band Garage Sale.
These different fundraisers bring in much needed
funds that support the entire band organization. Show your spirit today by participating in
these long-standing MMB traditions!
PABC Auction
Participating in the annual auction by soliciting and obtaining auction items and/or doing volunteer work at the auction
helps the band raise much needed funds through this very popular event held each November. Students receive an auction
packet during Summer Band that contains more detailed

Mighty Mustang Market (Garage Sale)
On Saturday, May 9, the Mighty Mustang Band held a massive garage sale
near the Pearce Auditorium. This was a great way to help the band and get rid
of those 'gently-used' items everybody had accumulating around the house and the garage.
Remember, all donations to the Mighty Mustang Band are deductible to the
extent allowed by tax laws.

In a brand-new and long-running initiative, the Mighty Mustang Band is soliciting
Corporate Sponsorships beginning in Spring 2009. This is a great opportunity
for companies from our community to show their support for the Mighty Mustang Band
and reap some publicity as well from their generosity.

Fall Football Programs/Media Guides
If you find a business to place an ad, or sponsor one of the band's
photos in the fall football programs and Media Guides, the band receives a portion of the profit.

Yard Signs
You've probably noticed yard signs distributed throughout the Pearce Area. PHS sports teams,
cheerleading squads, choirs, orchestras, drill teams, and other extra-curricular groups
support and promote their members with these yard signs. The MMB yard sign is no exception!
Order your personalized band sign today! If you already have a yard sign, but desire changes,
these can be made for a nominal fee.

Spirit Shirt Sales!
Show your Mighty Mustang Band Spirit! Band parents and siblings are encouraged to purchase and wear red
Mighty Mustang Band polo shirts or t-shirts. Orders are taken at the band barbeque in August. The shirts
are available in youth and adult sizes, with the Mighty Mustang Band logo in embroidery, and will be
personalized with your student's instrument or color guard flags on the shoulder. You will want to wear these shirts

Photo Buttons
Picture day for the band occurs the same day as band registration and uniform assignments. The photographer
will take individual pictures of the students in their uniforms and several packages are available.
Individual photo packages range from $10 to $50 and payments are made out to the photographer.
Button orders are $5 each and payments are made to the Pearce Athletic Booster Club.
