Honors and Awards

2003-2004
Marching band...
    earned all 1's at UIL Marching Contest
    first alternate to the State Contest
    2nd place AAAA and 2nd place horn line at the Mesquite Marching Contest

Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Bands earned all 1's and Sweepstakes Award at UIL Concert and Sight reading Contest. They also earned straight ones at Southcoast Music Festival in Corpus Christi.

2002-2003
The marching band received 2nd place and Best Music in 4A bands and placed 8th overall at the Birdville Marching Competition.

2001-2002
In 2001, under the direction of Peter Warshaw, the Pearce Band program was awarded the Sudler Flag of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation, and Symphonic I was also named the class 4A TMEA Honor Band!

1991
MMB was selected to perform at the Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic in 1991 under the direction of Matthew McInturf.

1986
Symphonic I was chosen to perform at the Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic in 1986 under the direction of Tom Bennett.

1985
The band was chosen as the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band (AAAAA) in 1985, under the direction of Tom Bennett.
The Pearce Symphonic I Band won "Outstanding Band in Class" at the 1st Adjudicators National Invitational Festival, at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.

1987
The band recieved the Sudler Flag of Honor in 1987 under the direction of Tom Bennett.

1976
The J.J.Pearce High School Band was the Presidential Honor Band in 1976 when Gerald Ford visited Dallas. The band played for him at NorthPark Mall.

5A Texas State Marching Contest
1990: Fourth in Finals
1987: Fourth in Finals
1986: Third in Finals

The Marching Band won the Parade of Champions (at the Cotton Bowl?) for many years in a row (from 1979 to 1986, at least 7 years). The Marching Band also won the DeSoto contest in DeSoto for six straight years since its inception.
